Importance of Knowing and Believing What You Have
Simon Peter or the Peter the Apostle was:
one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ.
one of the first leaders of the early church.
who was crucified in Rome under the Emperor Nero.
After the death of Jesus, he served as the head of the Apostles and the first to perform a miracle after Pentecost when we read Acts 3:1-11 and in verse 6 it reads 'Then Peter said "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth walk."
We read in Matthew 16:13 'When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Phillipi, He asked His disciples "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"
14 'Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah and still others say Jeremaiah or one of the prophets'
15 "But what about you?" He asked. "Who do you say I am?"
16' Simon Peter answered "You are the Christ, the son of the living God"
17' Jesus replied, "Blessed are you Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my father in heaven.
Making One's Calling and Election Sure
God's Divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.
What is Divine Power? - It is a power that is supernatural and beyond human capacity.
It is God's Divine Power that provides sustenance of life (daily provisions; food, water, clothes). We see this in Matthew 14:13-18 in the famous miracle of the Feeding of the Five Thousand where Jesus commands His disciples to bring the 3 loaves of bread and 2 fish to Him.
Matthew 14:18 "Bring them here to Me."
The Divine Power of God will always be manifested when human capabilities and human capacity is exhausted. When we acknowledge our lack or the limited resources we have as the disciples acknowledged in Matthew 14:17 "We have here only five loaves two fish.", the obedience to the instruction is key to your divine provisions and breakthrough.
Matthew 14:18 "Bring them here to Me."
Your peace might be disturbed this week either:
at work or
in a relationship or
in a financial situation.
If what you have at this moment cannot meet your need, then it is your seed.
The five loaves of bread and the two fish could not meet the need of feeding the five thousand. The disciples gave it as a seed and placed it at the hands of the Master.
The hands that touched the two blind men in Matthew 20:30-34 and their sight was recovered. The hands are likened to the potter described in Isaiah 64:8 "But now, O Lord, you are the our Father, we are the clay, and you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand." We are to allow God to continue to mold us and make us into what we really ought to be. The touch of the Master's hand is what we need.
A Story of an Auction
There was an old battered worthless that no one was interested to take until an old master steps up and begins to play the violin. The beautiful sound it created draws a price.
There is nothing more worthless than a handful of dirt, yet God used the dust of the earth to make mankind. This message was reiterated by the prophet Jeremiah when he was led to make a visit to the potter's house and we are also reminded of this message in the song - To get a touch from the Lord is so real, where the lyrics are;
'To get a touch from the Lord is so real
If you draw nigh to Him
He will draw nigh to you
To get a touch from the Lord is so real'
